Family Guy Story Summary:
"Family Guy," which is broadcast Sunday nights on the FOX network, is a hilarious, over-the-top, animated sitcom about the Griffin family of Quahog, R.I. While it may be about a family, the show is not exactly suitable for family viewing.
Created by Seth McFarlane, "Family Guy" is full of risqué jokes and adult humor that would be highly inappropriate for young children. For its intended adult and older teenage audience, the show never fails to amuse.
The family in "Family Guy" consists of father Peter, mom Lois, teenagers Megan and Chris, toddler Stewie, and talking pet dog, Brian. Reminiscent of the fathers in other animated sitcoms such as "The Simpsons" and "The Flintstones," Peter is constantly pursuing ridiculous schemes, often with Brian's assistance.
Invariably, these schemes go awry, he tries to hide the results from Lois, and much hilarity ensues. Peter's adventures and musings are routinely punctuated with bizarre flashbacks involving celebrities in compromising positions.
Son Chris is similarly short on brains but lacks his father's imagination and enthusiasm, while daughter Megan is shy, chubby and whiny but otherwise rarely much of a factor. Stewie is an evil genius in diapers with an inexplicable British accent.
He is constantly plotting to escape his ridiculous, yet utterly mundane family, often with the help of Brian, who walks on two legs and has a penchant for booze and fast women. Lois, meanwhile, is the sane, capable, reliable mother who tries to anchor everyone else in reality.
McFarlane voices Peter, Brian and Stewie as well as some recurring and one-time characters. Other well-known actors contributing to the show include Seth Green, who portrays Chris; Mila Kunis, who voices Meg; and Alex Borstein, who provides the voice for Lois.
